New Cadillac commercial

Today was the First time that I have had the pleasure of viewing a Cadillac car commercial produced by the divisions new add agencie Modernista.

The commercial opens with what appears to be some sort of crafts man or jeweler picking precious stones  and then  assembling them into what eventually becomes a new Cadillac wreath & crest, this is a good start for this campaign. This seems to emphasis the quality and longevity that one associates with a fine cut stone.

Cadillac appears to have found even more of the Automotive religion that it has been on for a few years now, first came the realization that they couldn't take cheaper cars and slap the Cadillac wreath and crest and expect to fool prospective customers, then the need to switch almost all their present and future design platforms to rear wheel drive, and now this.

So far so good.

Ford slashes production in the 4th quarter

This news recently posted over at Automotive news states that Ford will reduce it's production mainly in Trucks by 168000 units forthe 4th quarter of this year. This obviously reflects the drop in light truck sales thanks to  rising prices at the pumps, this is a wake up call for Ford as it is for the other Domestic Automakers, who have relied heavily on truck profits to pump up their bottom lines.

While this isn't good news in the short run, it should lead to  more diversified product cycle investments in the future.

I'd like to see more hybrid and diesel technology make it's way into more cars, and personal use trucks and SUV's, high pump prices are here to stay, and having  more engine options besides Gasoline power would go a long way when oil prices fluctuate.

Cadillac to Change their tune

Cadillac has decided to change advertising agencies, the luxury auto maker has taken it's business to Modernista, after a 71 year business relationship with Leo Burnett.

This could only bee seen as a positive move, after a few years of hearing Led Zeppelin play  during the commercials, it seems to have become rather  stale, while it's easy to understand that these commercials where aimed at the baby boomer crowd, I don't think this really registered with anyone outside of the demographic.

Modernista appears to have some fresh Ideas and will bring a new and exciting look to General motors premium Luxury division.

New Saturn Aura

Has just done a quick review of the new Saturn Aura, and initially the car looks to be a contender, with fit and finish and chassis dynamics seemingly on even ground with the Honda Accord and coming across with a slightly more sporty personality than the present Camry.

This car should help pull in new customers that would have probably passed on Saturn until now.

How this car compares in the real world to The Camry and Accord, remains to be seen.
